Today I am joining with the #FiveMinuteFriday community of writers to write for five minutes on a given word prompt. Todays word is: Access.
We often take for granted our access to the simple things in life like cell phones, emergency health care, and even God’s daily protection. I learned just this week how important each of these are.
Two days ago My husband was in a really bad car accident. He was on a highway stopped behind a semi-truck in a traffic jam because of road construction. All of a sudden, his work van was hit from behind throwing him into the semi truck. As you can imagine, the van was completely totaled. The cop helping my husband out told him that the driver had to be going at least 50 mph upon impact of my husband’s van. The impact was so hard the semi driver told my husband that he literally felt the van lift his trailer.
As my husband called me to tell me everything that was happening, he kept reassuring me that he was alright. There was pain at first but God suddenly healed him. He was able to walk out of that mangled mess with only bruises. God spared my husband’s life. He shouldn’t have been able to walk away from this. As he was speaking to me, he told me of all the miracles that took place as this accident was unfolding. There are way too many to write about in five minutes. But God!
I am reminded of Psalms 91:3
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and [b]buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
I am thankful for our access to cell phones and to good healthcare. I was able to talk to my husband and hear his beautiful voice reassuring me. I thank God that we are able to have access to His protection. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God was right there with my husband. We can call on His name and He is there for us, holding us when we are afraid and in need of help.
What an amazing story, Lori. Praise God everything is ok for your husband. I have my own miracle stories like that. So, I fully understand and believe. I love how God is accessible.

God is truly awesome.
They say that God up in the air
is awesome and He’s merciful,
and He takes a special care
for child, drunk, and dumb animal.
For this I do give thanks and praise,
with this I totally agree,
for in my life there have been days
when I have truly been all three,
blundering right through my life,
messing up what God had planned,
embarrassing my sweet dear wife,
a can of Bud in either hand,
dependent on God’s grace-supplies,
given as He rolls His eyes.

Praise be to God. Thank you for sharing this. I do hope you spend a little longer in another blog to share the whole story of all of the miracles. It is a real blessing to hear what the Lord has done. #28

I think I am going to have my husband write a guest post about everything that happened on that day. It should be really interesting!
