Today I am joining with the #FiveMinuteFriday group of writers to write for five minutes on a one word prompt. This week’s word prompt is: Consume.
What consumes you? So often we become so consumed by the stresses of everyday life that we don’t think about being consumed by the Glory of God. Our thoughts and our attitudes become carnal, leaving us with the emotions of worry, fear, anger or regret. Instead, we need to give our worries over to God and become consumed by His presence and His ways. Our prayer needs to become; ” Oh God, consume me with your glory. Let your thoughts be my thoughts. Let your ways be my ways.”
Psalms 69:9 says: ”Zeal for Your house will consume me.”
Hebrews 12:28-29 says: ”Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”
God wants to consume every area of our lives. He wants to consume our thought life, He wants to consume our daily life, He wants to consume our families. As we allow Him to consume our lives, the fire of God will destroy the negative thinking and the old ways within us. As we allow ourselves to surrender everything over to Him, He will give us peace and change our way of thinking. We will become consumed by His plan for our lives which in turn will give us joy.
