Book Review

If you are looking for a great bible for your children or grandkids, then The Garden Children’s Bible illustrated by Butch Hartman by Thomas Nelson Bibles, 2023, is one to consider. I was first drawn to the coloring pages on the front and back covers of the Bible. As I began flipping through the pages, I was amazed at the beautifully drawn illustrations that just drew you in to the bible stories being told. Comic strips based on The Garden cartoon episodes can be found throughout the Bible that will keep each child attentively engaged.

Something I was really impressed by were the scripture prayers written for the children to teach them how to pray scripture. Bold-faced words are scattered throughout which can be looked up in the ICB dictionary in the back of the Bible enhancing each child’s understanding of the Word of God. Notes can also be found at the bottom of each page giving a clearer description of something being read.

This Bible is written for children ages 6-10 but I think a parent can read it to a younger child as the illustrations would keep the child fully engaged. This Bible would be a great asset to any Children’s Church or Homeschool curriculum.

I really enjoyed this Bible and look forward to reading it with my own grandson.
